School Health Advisory Council (SHAC)
Health Services
The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) for Chapel Hill ISD functions in compliance with the Texas Education Code, Section 28.004. The purpose is to assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the district’s health education instruction. The specific duties of SHAC include making recommendations related to health education curriculum and hours of instruction, nutrition and fitness education, appropriate methods for instruction of human sexuality and strategies for a coordinated school health and safety program.
The mission of the Chapel Hill ISD SHAC is to build a healthy school community that ensures all children will graduate with the knowledge and skills to maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
Goals for 2024-2025:
Increase communication through out the district and the community as to the function of SHAC and increase attendance of SHAC member to scheduled meetings.
Increase the awareness and educate the students and the community on the new Family Circle of Care Clinic on CHHS Campus. (FCC Presentation)
Increase the awareness and resources to mental health in our community. (LPC-S Presentation)
Increase the awareness and resources for our community to combat the Fentanyl Crisis.
Educate the community and student on healthy eating and state mandated requirements in school. (Child Nutrition Presentation)

2024-2025 Meetings will be held in the Chapel Hill High School Library from 4:30p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
