Become a Classroom Teacher in Texas

Alternative Certification (ACP)
Hold a bachelor's degree or higher and wish to become an educator in TexAlternative certification programs (ACP’s) offer a nontraditional certification route that may allow you to teach while completing the requirements. Paraprofessionals in the Classroom
Must obtain an educational aide certification (applied for upon employment)
Must meet one of the following requirements to be considered Highly Qualified:
2 years of study at an institution of higher education [48 semester hours (or equivalent trimester hours)]; or
Associate’s (or higher) degree; or
Met a rigorous standard of quality through a formal state/local assessment (provided by Chapel Hill ISD upon employment)
