Root Certificate
Chapel Hill ISD requires devices install a Root Certificate to use network services effectively and securely. If you choose not to install the provided certificate, multiple websites may or may not work correctly.
Please install and trust the root certificate on your device. The certificate can be downloaded here:
Apple Device Guest Access Instructions
This certificate works on all major operating systems and device types including Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android, etc. Instructions for the different device operating systems are listed below.
Device specific instructions for installing the certificate:
Internet Explorer (Win 7 and Win 8)
Visit this website.
Click the 'Root Certificate' button
Click 'Open' to open the downloaded certificate
Click 'Install Certificate'
Click 'Next'
Click 'Place all certificates in the following store'
Click 'Browse'
Choose 'Trusted Root Certification Authorities'
Click 'OK'
Click 'Next'
Click 'Finish'
Click 'Yes' to install the certificate
Click 'OK' twice
Firefox
Visit this website.
Save the file to your computer
In Firefox Options, go to 'Advanced' then 'Certificates' then 'View Certificates'
Click the "Authorities" tab
Click the 'Import' button and select the file you just downloaded
Check the box beside 'Trust this CA to identify websites'
Click 'OK' and 'OK'
iPhone/iPad
Visit this website in Safari
Touch the 'Root Certificate' button
Click 'Install' to trust the Root CA
Enter your device passcode if prompted
Click 'Install' again, and then 'Install' a final time
If you still have an issue:
Go to settings->General->About->Certificate Trust Settings
Make sure ContentKeeper Appliance CA is enabled.
Chrome
Visit this website.
Click the 'Root Certificate' button
In the Chrome address bar type: chrome://settings/certificates
Click the 'Authorities' tab
Click the 'Import' button
Change the file type filter to 'All Files' at the bottom left
Select the ‘ckroot.crt' file that you downloaded in step 2, and click 'Open'
Check the 'Trust this certificate for identifying websites'
Click 'OK'
Click 'Done'
Chrome on OS X (Macintosh Computers)
Visit this website in Chrome
Click the 'Root Certificate' button
Open the 'Keychain Access' application
Select the ‘System Keychain’ from the list on the left
On the top menu bar, select ‘File’ then ‘Import Items…’
In the open file dialog, navigate to your Downloads folder and select ‘ckroot.crt’. Verify the ‘Destination Keychain’ is ‘System’ in the dropdown at the bottom of the open file dialog. Click ‘Open’.
Enter your Mac's admin username and password if prompted
Double click the ‘ContentKeeper Appliance CA’ certificate in the list.
Expand the ‘Trust’ section and change ‘When using this certificate’ to ‘Always Trust’.
Close the certificate dialog
Quit the Keychain Application
Chrome on Windows (PC Desktop/Laptops)
Visit this website in Chrome
Click the 'Root Certificate' button to download file (ckroot.crt)
Double click the downloaded file (ckroot.crt)
Click 'Install Certificate' in the Certificate window
Click ‘Next' on the Import Wizard to select current user
Select the ‘Place all certificates in the follow store’ option
Click ‘Browse’
Select ‘Trusted Root Certification Authorities’ and Click ‘OK’
Click ‘Next’ and then ‘Finish'
You should see "The import was successful", Click OK
Exit the wizard (click x)
Close all Chrome browser windows
Re-Open Chrome
Android
You must set a screen unlock PIN or password for Android to allow the steps below
Visit this website in Chrome
Click the 'Root Certificate' button
In the 'Certificate name' field enter 'ck'
In the 'Credential use' field, leave the selection at 'VPN and apps'
Click 'OK'
Mac
Visit this website in Safari
Click the 'Root Certificate' button
Open the 'Keychain Access' application
Select the 'System Keychain' from the list on the left
On the top menu bar, select 'File' then 'Import Items...'
In the open file dialog box, navigate to your Downloads folder and select "ckroot.crt"
Verify the 'Destination Keychain' is 'login' in the dropdown at the bottom of the open file dialog
Click Open
Enter your Mac's username and password if prompted
If KeychainAccess is not open, open it and select the "Login" Keychain
Double click the ‘ContentKeeper Appliance CA' certificate in the list
Expand the 'Trust' section and change 'When using this certificate' to 'Always Trust'
Close the Certificate dialog
Quit the 'Keychain Access' Application
