Our GT students and UIL Oral Readers and Storytellers enjoyed a day of practicing the craft of storytelling with a professional storyteller as well as problem solving to save Big Foot from natural disasters. Some things they learned included: They already know some Choctaw words, like Mississippi and Oklahoma. Amazing Grace, which was sung in Choctaw to them today, is the Choctaw nation national anthem. Students participated in storytelling activities with students from other schools in the region. These activities included dice games, charades, and creating their own comic strips on a storyboard. "You can’t keep your eyes on the footprints of the past. You must keep your eyes on where you are going." Learning from a Choctaw Storyteller was a great way to prepare for November's Native American Heritage Month. #LetsGrowTogether
