On Friday, September 1, students at Jackson Elementary School will be given popsicles at recess. This will be in an effort to continue to promote positively reinforcing students, due to the district’s recent training on Capturing Kids Hearts. Employees spent time creating a social contract in their training, and all agreed that the ideas generated were valuable and important. Teachers then took that activity to the classroom, encouraging students to find positive and calm ways to interact with one another, even during disagreements. Due to their willingness to sign the contract and make a choice to make a positive change, they will be rewarded with popsicles.
“I’m so excited about our students eagerness in the participation of their social contract. It really has shifted our thinking about behaviors in a new way,” commented principal Judy Carpenter.
