Safety Update — On February 28, 2024, during construction work at Kissam Intermediate School, a gas line was accidentally hit. Upon discovery, the proper authorities were immediately notified, and the gas lines were promptly shut off as a precautionary measure.
As a result of the incident, a faint smell of gas permeated the building, prompting school officials to initiate safety protocols of evacuating staff and students.
The gas line has been successfully repaired, and the fire and police department advised that it was safe to re-enter the building.
“Our school district remains unwavering in its dedication to upholding a safe and secure learning environment for all students. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the continued safety of our schools,” said Lamond Dean, Superintendent of Chapel Hill ISD.

Safety Update - Bomb Threat Hoax
Before the start of classes on the morning of Thursday, February 15th, a member of the Chapel Hill staff discovered a bomb threat against Chapel Hill High School on a student's Snapchat. The staff member promptly confiscated the phone and notified campus administration, as well as sought guidance from district and local authorities. Following this, the district administrative team, in collaboration with district police, launched an immediate investigation. The student responsible confessed to perpetrating a hoax, leading to their detention. Both the school district and local authorities are treating this matter with utmost seriousness. They are urging parents to engage in conversations with their children about the severe consequences of such false threats. Our school district remains unwavering in its dedication to upholding a safe and secure learning environment for all students. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the continued safety of our schools.

Out of an abundance of caution and to support safe travel, all CHISD schools will begin classes with a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
Classes will begin at the following times:
High School: 10:05 a.m.
Junior High: 10:05 a.m.
Kissam Intermediate: 9:50 a.m.
Wise Elementary: 9:45 a.m.
Jackson Elementary: 9:45 a.m.
Additionally, please note that school buses will also be running two hours behind their normal pick-up schedule. Please be aware that the road conditions may cause a slight delay in school bus pick-up times.
