Chapel Hill ISD Board Approves New Compensation Plan for 2024-25 Fiscal Year
Chapel Hill, TX – The Chapel Hill Independent School District (CHISD) Board has approved a new compensation plan for the 2024-25 fiscal year, which includes salary adjustments and benefits for employees across the district.
The plan entails a minimum 1% general salary increase for all employees, calculated from the midpoint salary rate. Additionally, there will be salary adjustments based on current market values, resulting in an overall increase for some employees of nearly 2%. Auxiliary staff will see an average increase of 11%, depending on their job category.
Board President Martin Ibarra expressed, “We believe that our teachers are the backbone of our educational system and deserve to be rewarded with fair and competitive compensation. However, we must also be mindful of our budget constraints and ensure that any pay increases are sustainable. We aim to balance recognizing and rewarding our educators’ hard work and dedication while maintaining a fiscally responsible approach to budgeting.”
The Board has also advocated for additional funding to enhance support for paraprofessional, clerical, and auxiliary staff.
Under the new plan:
Each teacher and librarian will receive an annual raise of $550.
The starting salary for new teachers will be set at $51,000, making it one of the highest beginning teacher salaries in the area.
Experienced teachers with 12 years-23 years of experience will receive additional adjustments to bring their salaries in line with market comparisons.
This initiative is part of a broader review of salary structures for different roles within the district, conducted by the Texas Association of School Boards on behalf of CHISD.
Moreover, the plan includes a 3% increase in medical insurance premium contributions made by the district, effective September 2024. This change aims to better balance compensation with the increasing costs of benefits.
