Chapel Hill, TX - Chapel Hill Independent School District (ISD) is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) Grant to develop a comprehensive literacy framework. This grant, provided by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), will enable Chapel Hill ISD to enhance literacy instruction and support for students, empowering them to achieve academic success.
The LASO Grant is a highly competitive grant program designed to support Texas school districts in addressing learning loss and accelerating student achievement. Chapel Hill ISD was selected among a competitive pool of applicants based on its commitment to student success and innovative approach to improving literacy outcomes.
With the LASO Grant, Chapel Hill ISD will have the opportunity to create a comprehensive literacy framework that incorporates evidence-based strategies and best practices. This framework will provide a roadmap for teachers to deliver high-quality literacy instruction and support for students from early childhood through high school, addressing the diverse needs of learners.
"We are thrilled to receive the LASO Grant, which will allow us to further enhance our literacy instruction and support for our students," said Dr. Joshua Tremont, Executive Director of Curriculum. "Literacy is the foundation of academic success, and this grant will enable us to develop a comprehensive framework that will empower our teachers to deliver effective literacy instruction and support to all our students."
The comprehensive literacy framework created with the LASO Grant will focus on key components of literacy, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. It will also provide professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance their instructional practices and strategies to support struggling readers and English language learners.
Chapel Hill ISD is committed to ensuring that all students have access to high-quality literacy instruction, regardless of their background or abilities. The LASO Grant will further strengthen Chapel Hill ISD's efforts to provide equitable and inclusive literacy instruction to meet the diverse needs of its students and support them in reaching their full potential.
"We are excited about the opportunities that the LASO Grant will provide us to enhance our literacy instruction and support for our students," said Mrs. Christen Parton, Academic Coordinator of RLA. "This grant will enable us to create a comprehensive literacy framework that will serve as a strong foundation for our students' academic success."
