Lamond Dean was named Superintendent of Schools for the Chapel Hill Independent School District (CHISD) on February 26, 2018, and is a proud graduate of the 1991 Class of Chapel Hill High School.
After graduating high school, Mr. Dean attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, and Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, where he excelled in academics and athletics before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Dean furthered his education by earning a Master of Education, receiving his principal’s certificate at Texas A&M-Commerce, and completing his Superintendent certification in 2015 from Texas A&M Texarkana.
Mr. Dean is well-versed in the school business having proudly served in the positions of teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, executive director of operations, deputy superintendent and superintendent. While serving as CHISD High School Principal, his campus received prestigious recognition by earning 17 out of 20 TEA Academic Distinctions in his final three years. Mr. Dean gives credit for the remarkable academic accomplishments to his faculty and staff.
Mr. Dean has been in education 25+ years with 17 of these years at CHISD.
Mr. Dean and his wife Sabrina, a proud CHISD reading specialist and dyslexia coach, have three children Deaveron, Braylon, and Bryson and one granddaughter, Austyn. Deaveron and Braylon are CHISD graduates, and Bryson is starting his sophomore year at Chapel Hill High School.
Mr. Dean believes that district's success is grounded in strong leadership and a shared vision that shapes everything they do. He often reiterates that together, the district can ensure that every student not only imagines a bright future but actively creates it.
