About Me

Hello, my name is Roberto Plata. I am a bilingual Head Start teacher at Jackson Elementary. I have been in education for thirty-three years and eight of those years have been at Chapel Hill ISD, where I have taught 4th grade and Head Start. I attended The Industrial University of Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia, my home country, where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Teaching Languages in 1992. Later on, while teaching in South Carolina, I pursued my master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Greensboro College in Greensboro, NC., and I graduated in 2011. My goal for this school year with my Head Start kids is to facilitate comprehension and boost student achievement by implementing the district designed curriculum with fidelity so that my students can be successful when they start kindergarten.
