Motivational_Speaker_Sept_22,_2008_004.jpgAttitude Counts! - Michael G. Walden

Former Staff Sergeant Michael Walden recently came and helped motivate the students at Jackson Elementary.  Walden talked with all the students about choosing to have a winner attitude in life and not a loser attitude.  He encouraged the students to listen to their parents and teachers, make good friends, get a good education, and stay away from smoking and drugs.  To get more information about Michael Walden check out his website, or read about his visit to Chapel Hill ISD in the Tyler Paper!

Kindergarten News

We had many wonderful adventures in Kindergarten this six weeks.  The highlight of the six weeks was the "All About Animals" field trip.  We loved going to the movies and then exploring the Caldwell Zoo. It was a BLAST and we learned so much about animals!  We have also learned many new things in reading and math.  In reading, we are working with rhyming words and putting sounds together to make words.  We are becoming letter experts! In math, we learned about patterns and practiced counting objects.  We are already looking forward to the next six weeks and our new adventures!  Thank you for your continuous support at home.  We appreciate you!  Listed below are some ways you can help your child at home:

  • Let your child read to you each night
  • Review high frequency words
  • Count objects around home (plates, silverware, toys, etc)
  • Play games, such as "I spy", in the car. You can look for shapes, patterns, etc.
  • Check your child's folder each evening and discuss what they did at school that day.
