The Board of Trustees appoints the Superintendent of Schools as the chief administrator and executive officer. With the assistance of his staff, the Superintendent directs the total educational and administrative programs in accordance with Board policies and the rules of the Texas Education Agency. The Superintendent attends all Board meetings and brings recommendations to the Board for action in carrying out the school district business.Mr. Lamond Dean was named Interim Superintendent of Schools for the Chapel Hill Independent School District on November 13, 2017. He previously served as Chapel Hill ISD's Deputy Superintendent, Executive Director of Operations and High School Principal from 2006 until his appointment in November.
Mr. Dean is a 1991 graduate of Chapel Hill High School and a member of the 1989 Bulldog State Championship Football Team. He attended Tyler Junior College and Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky where he played football and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He earned a Master's of Education and Principal’s Certificate at Texas A&M-Commerce and completed his Superintendent's Certification from Texas A&M-Texarkana.
Mr. Dean and his wife Sabrina, an elementary teacher, have been married for twenty-three years and have three children--Deaveron, Braylon and Bryson. Deaveron was a member of the 2011 Bulldog State Championship Team. A long-time resident of the Chapel Hill community, Mr. Dean is an active member of Water’s Temple Church of God in Christ located in Starrville.
An employee of CHISD for more than 11 years, Mr. Dean feels that leading this district is both a great honor and a great responsibility. Most importantly, Mr. Dean believes that the foundation of our district's future accomplishments will be found in the power of the Chapel Hill community's aligned efforts and desire to excel.
