Welcome to my "corner" :)
I always tell the students I have THE best job of ANYONE at Wise. And I DO....in MY opinion ;)!!! I am among the fortunate who found a career they truly love! This will be my 21st year as counselor here at Wise! Prior to that I was a counselor/psychology teacher at Tyler Junior College. (I still am an adjunct professor at T.J.C.) Before my college years, I taught high school courses.
I have many "hats" I wear. I am the coordinator of the G/T Program and Parental Involvement. Also, I help facilitate some aspects of the Bilingual/ESL program. Regarding specially "themed" time periods during the year, I am in charge of planning and seeing to the successful execution of Red Ribbon Week, Texas Public School Week, anti-bullying month, and violence prevention month. But, first and foremost, I teach guidance lessons, provide counseling to students individually/in groups, and consult with parents/teachers about how to help their students be more psychologically healthy and successful at home and at school. (The guidance lessons are in the classrooms and are aimed at preventing inappropriate behavior, increasing self-esteem, equipping the students with knowledge of potential dangers in their environments/ how to keep themselves safe if they encounter those dangers, dealing successfully with internal strong emotions, accepting differences in others, creating goals, career readiness, and dealing with "change".)
If I can ever be of service to you or your student/s, please contact me by email or phone to converse or to set up an appointment to visit in person. I look forward to being a part of your child's educational and emotional journey!!!
